Wiley talks innovation at Toowoomba Ag Show

I had a quick catch-up with Michael Matthewson, Senior Process Engineer and Agribusiness Specialist at Wiley, before he left for the Annual Ag Show in Toowoomba.

The Ag show, now in its 23rd year, runs over three days (3-5 Sept) and with over 700 exhibitors it is Queensland’s largest Agricultural and Machinery Field days. It has a strong vision of showcasing "tomorrow’s agricultural technology today".

So Michael, what are you looking forward to at the Ag Show?
This is right in my backyard and such a great event for catching up with people you’ve known for years as well as offering plenty of opportunities for forging new relationships. It is inspiring to have all the latest and greatest of your industry gathered together for the sole purpose of sharing knowledge and seeing how we can support each other to grow the profile of this region.

One of my highlights will be attending the Agribusiness Leaders Luncheon with Guest speaker Hon Dr John McVeigh MP, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry speaking on the future of Agriculture in Queensland and facilitating Agri-business for Primary Producers.

As a guest of Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise Corporation (TSBE), I have also been invited to speak in the TSBE Agribusiness Innovation Centre on the topic of “Innovations in Food Processing”.

That’s great, what are the key messages you would like people to come away with from your presentation?
My goal is to share a solid overview of Global and localised food industry information to display what is happening on the world stage and how we, at a regional level, can best take an innovative approach to maximise our opportunities here and overseas.

I would also like people to come away with a real connection to our business, our brand and have gained an understanding of Wiley’s unique offering; of our truly innovative, one stop shop approach to project delivery which can unlock their dreams and create a better future.

The core of this approach centres on the open, collaborative relationships we develop with our clients to discover the potential of their business early and develop it sustainably, with flexibility and a future focus.

What is so timely about this event happening now in this region?
Wiley has a commitment to developing the agribusiness and associated industry in the Toowoomba and Surat basin region. With the opportunities now available across the Asian markets, Wiley are keen to work with businesses in this region to become key players in helping to grow a sustainable export of first class goods, products, and services to Asia.

Come and find me and have a chat, I am all ears.
